Greeetings friends

So, maybe you are wondering where I am and what am I doing. If not I will tell you anyway.

So I am currently in Korea, in a city called Suwon. Its a city of 1,000,000, about a 40 min bus from Seoul, but people say its practically part of Seoul, as the subway goes into Suwon. Here is my apartment building:

The one with the big cup on it. Its not a big place, only 3 floors of people. Better that the huge neighbourhoods of 30+ floor apartment buildings around here. Its a studio/bedroom/bathroom/kitchen/study/door opens right into the place so when crispies come knocking they can see your bed type of place. We’re getting our co-workers place when she leaves, which is a whole lot better than ours.

Me and Carey work at a “private language institute”, teaching ages 4-12. Its tiring, and we have a really bad schedule where we pretty much teach constantly with no breaks. For those googling to see if you should work at WONDERLAND JUNG JA SUWON OWNERS KEVIN AND ALLY ROH you shouldn’t. UNORGANISED NO NATURAL LIGHT LONG HOURS MISSLEADING CONTRACTS. There are better jobs out there, we know, but for us its beneficial to just stick it out and fullfil our contract. Korean law states that if you fulfil your contract you are entiled to one months salary as severence. Plus we get flights home. Booya. Teaching sucks, but its pretty easy, I just do whatever I want really. Minimum effort minimum results. You get what you paid for. Some of the kids are great, picking up the language so easy, being all cute and stuff. They’re really affectionate, they hug and kiss you all the time and say “i love you”. So teaching is ok sometimes, you have fun every now and then, and its just fun sometimes kids strugling to tell you the most mundane of things and being all stoked when you understand them. The truth I get paid quite alot for doing not much at all.

Its funny, Korea seems to be the place where the uncool people who couldn’t get jobs in Japan teaching come because its the easiest place to get a job. They hire you without even seeing you. Its crazy. A lot of people seem to have left something behind in their lives, like an old boyfriend or they were fired or something, so thats not something we seem to have in common with people here. We just came for the money. We have some good friends, and the people we work with are pretty cool. The four of us hang out together a lot. All we seem to talk about is fucking work god damn it. I wish we had more in common. The other two are both mid 30’s.

I’ve been skating when I can. Theres a skatepark a stones throw away that I go to a lot. I’m a local. They’re all like “Hi” when I come in. Though I can only talk to a couple of them. Its a closed off park and theres this awesome park manager who like mid thirties kinda stocky, and he’s always just rockin round pumpin transition and doing little manuals. I broke my board there and he gave an old one he had. Great guy. Anyway, best get back to watching Bad Girls. Cranking the british shows here as our internet is awesomely fast. Will post some photos soon of my kids as tomorrow is “Activity Day” where we just get to play with the kinders for the morning. Its “Chuseok” themed. Chuseok is when Koreans dress up in tradition dress and pray to their ancestors in thanks for the harvest. Its going to be super cute. Woah, I’m super gay.
